Amanda Palmer has recently split from her record label (following in the footsteps of influential bands like Radiohead, OKGo and Nine Inch Nails) and her next album, the first as a free agent, is going to be a covers album. Covers of Radiohead songs. On ukulele. That all sounds pretty random but to give you faith you need to go and listen to her first “single” – Idioteque. Enjoy.

Pixelh8 is one of those dudes that’s so talented I wonder when he finds the time to sleep. The tunes are of the variety “chip” and, as such, probably aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but I urge you to go and listen to “You Were Born To Save The World” – it’s just such a beautifully orchestrated little tune that I can totally imagine soundtracking an epic scene in a movie. After that you’ll want to check out the video of Pixelh8 chip tune busking with his mini amp and his Nintendo DS (t’s pretty cool).

The weather is sunny once again so it’s definitely time for another happy, Summery tune to get us all in top mood: Lonesome George by Yeti Lane is that tune (and it’s got a funky video to go with it). Enjoy.

Happy Monday everyone! Once again it’s time for this week’s Band Of The Week! I’ve been meaning to use There Will Be Fireworks for a few weeks and I’m glad to present you with We Are A Roman Candle; it’s an awesome tune from a great sounding band. Enjoy.

I heard this song again a few days ago but I totally can’t remember where I heard it first… very frustrating. Never mind – what you need to know is that Old Balloons is just a beautiful tune and Admiral Fallow sound like a band that have a huge amount of potential. Go listen to them now!

Band Of The Week this week are The Tallest Man On Earth. The recordings on their MySpace are good but the ones on Daytrotter are amazing; check out the brilliant I Won’t Be Found.

I don’t know much about these guys but Skeleton Bob have a pretty cool sound, especially Someone Else’s Song, a pretty country sounding tune from a Scottish band.

Cheers to Mr Neilson for the tip off about this guy – a seriously good find! He’s called Andre Duracell and he plays drums. He’s a one man band but not in the conventional sense – he uses a full drum kit to trigger audio samples/loops and the sound that he creates – ALL ON HIS OWN – is almost impossible to believe. He’s playing in Edinburgh on the 25th of May so I’m hoping to see him then.

I’m not going to lie – this isn’t my normal listening choice… it’s just that I can’t get “Veidiljod” out of my head! The best I can do to describe Benni Hemm Hemm is to say that they are like nothing like Sigur Rós playing Ennio Morricone covers with Liam Finn on vocals (because that would just be too weird!).
